The Diagnostic Approach
DiagnosticApproa.jpg

Drivability is the best customer friendly repair specialty to master as most customers don’t have automotive knowledge. Their complaints are usually in the form of describing certain characteristics the vehicle takes on when attempting to start, stop, cruise or reach high speeds on the highway. As a technician it is important to be able to define abnormal vehicle behavior as described by the customer and apply it to a comprehensive, well thought out manner of diagnostics.

Successfully diagnosing a drivability issue can be as easy as understanding scan tool data, what modules relate to each other and why it’s important to retrieve codes on all modules. This course is taught by instructor and master data analyst Ron Bilyeu who will take you through a comprehensive approach to diagnosing drivability using computer data. Identify if the issue is breathing, fuel or ignition and how to diagnose using scan data for those systems. The information in this course can be applied to domestic and import applications.

This course was produced using the Modis Ultra Pro - data analytics and diagnostic processes can be applied to ANY aftermarket scanner.

Topics Covered:

·         Volumetric Efficiency Diagnosis

·         Positive and Negative Fuel Trim Faults & Conditions

·         Ignition System Diagnostics

·         Preliminary Diagnostics

·         Secondary Ignition Testing

·         Test Driving Diagnostics

Essentials of Performance tuning
Take me to the PROM
TakemetothePROM.jpg
Given the fact that all modern vehicles are equipped with complex computers that dictate the general functionality and driving characteristics of that vehicle, it’s no surprise performance tuning has gained the amount of popularity it has.
The fact of the matter is, even with light modifications like a cold air intake and/or exhaust, without a tune, horsepower is lost within those modifications robbing them of their ability to help your car breathe easier.
In this highly requested course on performance tuning, Ron Bilyeu introduces you to the basics of performance tuning and what areas of the P.R.O.M you need to address with the addition of certain modifications. Ron explains that with today’s modern vehicles, the best thing to do what attempting modifications is to have a solid plan. Most every modification requires an additional modification to
complement one another in order to get the most power. A great tuner will know where little extras are needed and how to address these changes in the P.R.O.M in order to maximize horsepower.

Saving your Powerstroke 6.0
SAVING6.0.jpg
Ford’s 6.0L Powerstroke diesel is a powerful torque monster, celebrated by Ford enthusiasts everywhere, but like every engine, it is not without its common issues and factory limitations. In this class, Saving Your 6.0 Powerstroke, Ron Bilyeu dissects the common inherit problems with the 6.0L Powerstroke and how to fix them using enhanced aftermarket parts utilized in the performance industry. Don’t just replace parts with the same thing from the factory that failed in the first place, upgrade and never worry about that component failing again. These parts will ensure a longer life than Ford factory replacement parts that caused the issue in the first place.

Specific topics covered include:

  • Mechanical issues & repair techniques
  • Basic 6.0 component education
  • Common inherit problems
  • Why these problems occur
  • Examination of failing components

Hampshire Daisies
GDI.jpg
Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) is the new wave of the future being implemented in cars of today. In this new class called “Mysteries of GDI,” Ron Bilyeu dissects the mechanical and electrical components in this high-pressure fuel deliver system, explains the benefits and drawbacks and examines the differences in manufacturer methods. Ron predicts by 2018 every engine that runs on petrol will be GDI. It is the only way vehicle manufacturers can reach a corporate average fuel economy and reach cold engine emissions.

This class is over an hour long, is available streaming online and comes with a supplemental study guide and a full length knowledge assessment.

  • High Pressure Fuel Delivery Methods
  • Advantages and Disadvantages to GDI
  • Component examination
  • Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics
